Terme Achilliane

For Achilliane baths we mean underground thermal structures dating back to the IV-V century located in Catania, of which only a small portion remains visible under the Piazza del Duomo.

You enter the thermal environment passing through a corridor with a barrel vault made in the interspace between the foundations of the cathedral whose access consists of a ramp to the right of the façade of the same. The name of the plant is deduced from an inscription on a Lunense marble slab reduced to six main fragments, datable to the first half of the 5th century, now exhibited in the Civic Museum at Castello Ursino.
