Amenano Fountain
The fountain is located in the historical city center of Catania, in Duomo square. It was completed in 19th century and it is made of fine Carrara marble. The fountain was named after the Amenano river which flows under the city and which is represented by the statue of a young boy holding a horn of plenty from which the water flows creating a “sheet” effect.
Because of this the fountain is also known as “acqua o linzolu” where linzolu means bed sheet. Back of it, a staircase leads to the famous Fish Market of Catania, known as “a Piscaria”.
